BMW's BEV Sales Grew in H1 2024

Sales across EV and Upper Premium Segment of BMW Group Grew in H1 2024

During the first half of 2024, BMW has achieved 34.1% increase in BEV (battery electric vehicle) sales compared to the same period of the prior year, selling 179,557 fully electric vehicles. The BMW brand achieved overall 2.3% growth over the first half of 2024 compared to the same period of the prior year having sold a total of 1,096,486 units. The brand has managed to outperform its traditional competitors and significantly expanded its market share in Europe. The BMW group including BMW, MINI and RollsRoyce brands has delivered a total of 1,213,359 vehicles in the first half of 2024.

According to Jochen Goller, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Customer, Brands, Sales, the company has experienced double digit growth in the sales of fully electric vehicles and models from the upper premium segment. The sales of the BMW brand increased in the first half of 2024 despite a challenging market environment driven by the attractiveness of BMW’s product portfolio.

Apart from its fully electric vehicles, models from the.upper premium segment of BMW brand are also growing highly popular among customers. Sales of the BMW 7 series increased 22% during the first half of 2024 compared to the same period of the prior year. The BMW X1 and the BMW 3 Series also experienced strong growth compared to the prior year. BMW M GmbH also generated a significant level of interest after unveiling the first M5 high-performance sedan with electrified drive train in June. BMW M has sold 99,517 vehicles, representing a growth of 5.1%.

The MINI brand delivered 114,054 vehicles in the first half of 2024 which includes the first MINI Cooper cars from the New MINI family that have received very good response from the customers. The market launch of MINI Aceman as well as the further ramp-up of the MINI Cooper and MINI Countryman is expected to provide positive momentum over the second half of the year.

Over the first half of 2024, RollsRoyce has delivered a total of 2,819 motor cars to customers globally. BMW Motorrad has also delivered 113,072 motorcycles and scooters to customers globally during the same period

The BMW group is confident regarding the second half of the year due to the full availability of the BMW 5 Series models – including the new BMW 5 Series Touring and the first BMW i5 Touring apart from the ongoing market launch of the New MINI family. By offering a variety of drivetrain technologies across the portfolio of the entire group (BMW, MINI and Rolls Royce), the company can cater to varied customer preferences successfully.
