The Volkswagen Group is among the leading auto manufacturers in the world based in Germany and operating across the globe. It is headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany. The company is a group of ten core brands that operate independently.

Volkswagen was founded by the German government in 1937 to mass produce a lower priced car for the masses. The company remained the world's largest car manufacturer in 2016 and 2017. It is now the largest car manufacturer in Europe.

Volkswagen operates at a global scale. The company has established 114 production facilities in 19 European countries and ten countries in the Americas, Asia and Africa. It is also establishing battery production facilities to meet the increased demand for electric vehicles globally.
