The German luxury car manufacturer Audi has experienced solid sales growth in India in fiscal 2023-2024. The company had an excellent fiscal 2023-24, as its sales grew 33%. Audi sold a total of 7,027 units in fiscal 2023-24. Its diverse portfolio remained the main driver of growth in the Indian market.
In the first quarter, supply chain challenges continued to trouble Audi and the company sold only 1,046 units here. According to Audi India head, Balbir Singh Dhillon, Audi had a successful 2023-24 and the diverse portfolio of the company continues to experience solid demand. The company is poised to overcome the supply chain related challenges according to Dhillon.
After very strong demand in 2023 for luxury cars, demand has been weakening in the Indian market. However, Dhillon is confident that the luxury car industry in India would still sell more than 50,000 luxury cars this year.
Audi’s pre-owned car business is known as Audi Approved: Plus, which enjoyed 50% growth in FY 23-24. Currently, there are 26 Audi Approved: plus locations in India and the company is planning to add 4 more in 2024. During the first three months of 2024, Audi’s pre-owned car business experienced a growth of 25%.
During the 12 months of 2023 (Jan to Dec 2023), Audi India had experienced 89% growth, having sold 7,931 retail units. In 2023, the company had the highest sales in the Indian market since 2015. During the last quarter of 2023 alone, the company sold 2,401 retail units which was 94% higher compared to the same period in the prior year.
Audi’s SUV range experienced 174% sales growth in 2023 compared to the previous year. Audi also continued to expand its footprint across the country and at the year end 2023 had 64 touchpoints including showrooms and service centers. Audi India’s strong portfolio includes seventeen car models.
While Audi’s best selling models in India including Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi Q5 continued to enjoy strong demand in 2023, Audi also introduced three new models - Audi Q3 Sportback, Audi Q8 e-tron, and Audi Q8 Sportback e-tron.
In 2023, Audi India introduced a host of customer-centric programs and offerings – one of which was ‘ChargeMyAudi’ feature on the myAudiConnect app. A one-stop solution that gives Audi e-tron customers access to charging points of multiple electric vehicle charging partners, all on one app.
Audi e-tron owners in India have access to more than 1000 charging points (more to be added in 2024), through the chargemyAudi feature on the MyAudiConnect app.
Audi India opened India’s first ultra fast charging station in Bandra Kurla Complex(BkC), Mumbai in 2023.
Audi Q8 55 e-tron with a 114 kWh battery can charge from 20% to 80% in just 26 minutes at the BKC ultra fast charging station.
The BNC charging station has an impressive total capacity of 450kW, to deliver 360kW of power to an electric vehicle. The charging station is enabled by a 500 amps liquid-cooled gun to ensure high performance and efficiency.
Audi introduced Audi club rewards for Indian customers in 2023 which is open to all existing Audi owners. The rewards program offers exclusive access, segment-first privileges and bespoke experiences.
